Recap: Atlantic Coast Stingrays vs. Menendez Falcons
This season hasn't been kind to the Atlantic Coast Stingrays, who are still winless after their 12th contest. They fell to Menendez 57-53. While losing is never fun, Atlantic Coast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 698th, while Menendez is ranked 271st).
Malik Aker and JP Pearson certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Aker scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Pearson scored 17 points. Aker set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Ward, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Atlantic Coast were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Atlantic Coast's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Menendez, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Atlantic Coast won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fletcher at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. Menendez will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Clay at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
