Baseball Recap: Pennington Starts Season with Win on the Road

Pennington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Brindlee Mountain Lions with a sharp 22-3 win on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Tigers have posted since April 1, 2024.

Connor Timmerman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Pennington got a massive performance out of Noah McClendon, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave McClendon a new career-high. Colton Walston was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Pennington will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Elkmont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Brindlee Mountain, they will challenge Kate Duncan Smith DAR at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
