Basketball Recap: Wayne County Takes Down Richland in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Wayne County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They secured a 49-43 W over the Richland Raiders on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Raiders back in January, they had to take a 53-41 loss.

Wayne County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cayman Camfield led the charge by dropping a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sayler Skelton, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Wayne County is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Richland and nudges their season record down to 17-10.

Coming up, Wayne County will square off against Harriman on March 19th. Harriman is on an 11-game streak of home wins, Wayne County a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Richland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
