Basketball Recap: Juan Salgado's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverside over Ysleta

Riverside fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Ysleta on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ysleta Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-42 back in January.

Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juan Salgado, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Jauregui, who scored 11 points.

Azaiah Thompson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 31 points and ten boards for Ysleta. Thompson's evening made it 22 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Martin Soria was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Ysleta, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season.

Looking ahead, Riverside will face off against Irvin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside is facing Irvin at the right time seeing as Irvin is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Ysleta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
