The Pinkerton Astros will challenge the Alvirne Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pinkerton has 28 straight wins, Alvirne has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Pinkerton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Bishop Guertin, who was ranked 21st at the time (Pinkerton was ranked first). The Astros never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Friday. The Astros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Michael Cloffi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brendan Home, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Leo Boucher was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Alvirne suffered their closest loss since April 26, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Timberlane by a score of 4-2.
Charlie Crawford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Grayson Polleck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Pinkerton pushed their record up to 17-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Alvirne, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.
Alvirne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pinkerton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Alvirne, though, as they've only averaged .204. Will they be able to contain Pinkerton's hitters?
Pinkerton took their win against Alvirne in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Astros have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
