Softball Recap: South Stanly Comes Up Short

After flying high against Albemarle last Thursday, South Stanly came back down to earth. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls fell just short of the Union Academy Cardinals by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls were not able to make up for their loss to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Kinsley Tyson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

South Stanly's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Union Academy, the win keeps they at an undefeated 20-0.

Coming up, South Stanly will square off against Albemarle at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.8 runs per game on average), something the Rowdy Rebel Bulls will no doubt try to take advantage of. Union Academy will be paying especially close attention to South Stanly's matchup: after South Stanly faces off against Albemarle, they'll take on Union Academy again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
