Football Game Preview: Middletown Middie Bears vs. Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders + How To Watch

Middletown is 2-8 against Monroe-Woodbury since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Middie Bears will challenge the Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Middletown sitting on five straight wins and Monroe-Woodbury on nine.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Middletown beat Newburgh Free Academy 21-16.

Middletown's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. Aiden Barbosa was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Monroe-Woodbury against Valley Central on Friday as the team secured a 42-13 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won eight matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Middletown better keep an eye on ETHAN MALDONADO. He was instrumental in Monroe-Woodbury's win, throwing for 163 yards and three TDs on only ten passes, while also rushing for 78 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was BRAYLON SHILLINGFORD, who picked up 121 receiving yards and one score.

Middletown's record is now 6-4. As for Monroe-Woodbury, their record now sits at 9-1.

Middletown took a serious blow against Monroe-Woodbury in their previous matchup back in October, falling 49-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Crusaders' NATHANIEL COULANGES, who rushed for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 70 receiving yards and one TD.
