Recap: Yorktown Patriots vs. George C. Marshall Statesmen
After losing to the George C. Marshall Statesmen the last time they met, the Yorktown Patriots decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Yorktown snuck past George C. Marshall with a 50-46 win on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Yorktown.
Yorktown was led to victory by Brennan Pilot and Andrew Maria. Pilot scored 12 points along with six rebounds, while Maria scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The game was Maria's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Roosa, who scored seven points.
Yorktown has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for George C. Marshall, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-1.
Yorktown will be home for the holidays to greet Langley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Langley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for George C. Marshall, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington-Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington-Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while George C. Marshall is ranked 54th).
