Basketball Recap: Elkhart Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked South Bend Adams

After losing to South Bend Adams the last time they met, Elkhart decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Elkhart Lions snuck past the South Bend Adams Eagles with a 61-57 win on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Eagles are ranked 103rd).

South Bend Adams lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Drew Dixon, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jarvis Tolbert, who put up 18 points and eight boards.

Elkhart's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for South Bend Adams, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.

Elkhart will face off against South Bend St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. One thing working in South Bend St. Joseph's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for South Bend Adams, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Penn at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
