Softball Recap: Pen Argyl Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Pen Argyl got themselves on the board against Pocono Mountain East on Thursday, but Pocono Mountain East never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Cardinals. That's more bragging rights for the Green Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Jillian Bradley's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pen Argyl saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Scherer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another was Grace Weaver, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Pen Argyl's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Pocono Mountain East, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pen Argyl will face off against Stroudsburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pocono Mountain East, they will venture away from home to face off against Whitehall at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Zephyrs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
