Houston County won the last time they faced Effingham County, and Colin Anderson did his part to make sure it happened again. The Bears strolled past the Rebels with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-42 thanks in part to Anderson, who rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one score.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Houston County's defensive line and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kam Brown and Jase Jordan, who racked up four sacks between them. Jordan is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Houston County received some extra help from Jakobe Bryant, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Despite the loss, Effingham County still got an impressive performance from Kris Swinney, who rushed for 60 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 65 yards and one touchdown on only six passes. Isaiah (Zeke) Brown also helped out with an impressive 97 receiving yards.

Houston County has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Houston County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Perry at 7:30 p.m. As for Effingham County, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against New Hampstead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
