Byron's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Kasson-Mantorville on Wednesday. The Bears walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Winona Winhawks. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Tallie Behrens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Leah Bendix was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Kaydence Fjerstad was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Byron's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Winona, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10.
As of now, neither Byron nor the Winhawks have any future games scheduled.
