Basketball Game Preview: New Hampstead Phoenix vs. Wayne County Yellow Jackets

New Hampstead is 0-10 against Wayne County since January of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The New Hampstead Phoenix will head out on the road to square off against the Wayne County Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

New Hampstead is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Wednesday. They lost 35-13 to St. Andrew's.

Meanwhile, Wayne County unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a blow against Warner Robins, falling 62-32. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Demons are ranked tenth).

Wayne County's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for New Hampstead, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Things could have been worse for New Hampstead, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-22 loss to Wayne County in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can New Hampstead avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
