Softball Recap: Knightdale Takes a Loss

Knightdale extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 7-13. They lost 16-2 to the East Wake Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-0 loss on Thursday.

Knightdale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jhonae Davis, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for East Wake, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On East Wake's side, Scarlett Avila-Cristobal made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Avila-Cristobal has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Katelyn Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Claire Willis was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Knightdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Wake, they have already played their next game, a 14-3 loss against Wake Forest on the 28th.
