Softball Game Preview: Livingston Academy Wildcats vs. Cumberland County Panthers

The Livingston Academy Wildcats will head out to challenge the Cumberland County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Livingston Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Cumberland County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Livingston Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Stone Memorial on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kendall Simpson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Hutchison, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cumberland County suffered their biggest defeat since March 22nd on Saturday. They lost 8-1 to Pulaski County. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Livingston Academy's record is now 6-5. As for Cumberland County, their record now sits at 6-8-1.

Livingston Academy took their victory against Cumberland County when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
