Baseball Recap: Matanzas Takes a Loss

After flying high against Interlachen on Wednesday, Matanzas came back down to earth. The Matanzas Pirates took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Titans on Thursday. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 5-1 in the first period.

Matanzas dropped their record down to 1-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for University, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2-2.

Looking ahead, Matanzas will square off against Atlantic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Atlantic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Matanzas' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for University, they will challenge Father Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Father Lopez will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
