Baseball Recap: Okeechobee Triumphs

Okeechobee won the last time they faced Clewiston and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Brahmans never let the Tigers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Okeechobee's win was all the more impressive since the Tigers were averaging only 1.64 runs allowed on the season.

Ruben Gurrero was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Okeechobee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).

Okeechobee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

The victory got Okeechobee back to even at 8-8. As for Clewiston, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Okeechobee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-4 loss against True North Classical Academy on the 28th. As for Clewiston, they have also already played their next game, a 7-6 win against DeSoto County on the 28th.
