Softball Recap: White Oak Wins Going Away Against Lejeune

White Oak had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Lejeune on Tuesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Devil Pups with a sharp 17-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Devil Pups: they've now won five in a row.

Alyssa Whitcomb made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Jaeger, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Micaela Bowser was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

White Oak hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

White Oak's record now sits at 9-10. As for Lejeune, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, White Oak and Lejeune will both be playing Southwest Onslow the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Devil Pups will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
