Softball Recap: Oak Hills Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Oak Hills dropped their record down to 11-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell 4-1 to the Lakota East Thunderhawks. The contest marked the Highlanders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Lakota East, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Lakota East's part, Kaleigh Crawford was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over ten innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Crawford has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abrie Shulte, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Hills will square off against Middletown at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Highlanders are facing the Middies at the right time seeing as the Middies are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Lakota East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something the Thunderhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
