Basketball Recap: Wallace Wildcats vs. Maxwell Wildcats
The Wallace Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 47-35 to Maxwell. Wallace has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Wallace lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matt Lungrin, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Max Hanson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maxwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jesse Reyes, who scored ten points along with two steals. Max Robinson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Wallace has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Maxwell, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-13 record this season.
Wallace will be playing at home against the Roughriders on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Southwest is ranked 238th, while the Wildcats are ranked 241st). As for Maxwell, they will head out on the road to square off against the Sailors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sutherland is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
