Volleyball Recap: Big Walnut Golden Eagles vs. Worthington Kilbourne Wolves
Big Walnut came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves, falling 3-0. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
While Big Walnut was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 25-16.
Maclan Day paced Big Walnut's offense, picking up five kills. Day got some help from Bryce Lawhun and his eight assists. Lawhun was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.
Worthington Kilbourne can attribute much of their success to Alex Ishida, who had six digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Ishida a new career-high in assists (21).
Big Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Worthington Kilbourne, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Coming up, Big Walnut will be playing in front of their home fans against New Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Worthington Kilbourne, they will take on Centerville at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
