Preview: Muleshoe Mules vs. Lamesa Tornadoes

Muleshoe is 0-8 against Lamesa since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Muleshoe Mules will look to defend their home court against the Lamesa Tornadoes at 6:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 86-43, which was the final score in Muleshoe's tilt against Littlefield on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Muleshoe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1180th, while Littlefield is ranked 208th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Adam Alarcon, who scored 18 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Jojo Barron was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Lamesa's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Friona.

Muleshoe has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Lamesa, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.

Muleshoe ended up a good deal behind Lamesa when the teams last played back in January, losing 69-54. Will Muleshoe have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
