Basketball Recap: Sparrows Point Takes a Loss

Sparrows Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Pikesville Panthers, falling 73-23. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Panthers are ranked 26th).

Pikesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ka?Nai Pyatt led the charge by going 8 for 16 on her way to 22 points and three steals. Pyatt is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Jones-Bey, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and five steals.

Sparrows Point's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Pikesville, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Sparrows Point will take on Overlea at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pikesville has already played their next matchup (against New Town), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
