The Amherst County Lancers were the 56-35 winner over the Appomattox County Raiders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Amherst County fell to Appomattox County 44-39. Amherst County just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Amherst County saw an underclassman step up: Emmena Awanda scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Wall, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Amherst County now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Appomattox County, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the court. Amherst County will host Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Appomattox County will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
