Soccer Recap: Marietta Takes a Loss

Marietta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Riverwood Raiders, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Marietta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Riverwood are ranked 42nd).

Marietta's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Riverwood, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marietta will host North Cobb at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marietta will be up against North Cobb's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.42 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Riverwood, they will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against North Paulding at 7:30 p.m. North Paulding will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Riverwood surely won't give up without a fight.
