Football Recap: St. Joseph Comes Up Short

After flying high against St. John XXIII last Friday, St. Joseph came back down to earth. The Flyers fell 18-10 to the St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Flyers in their meetings with the Bloodhounds: they've now lost four in a row.

Jace Vasquez threw for 131 yards and one touchdown. Charlie Stefka was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards and one TD.

St. Joseph Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mauricio Vega, who rushed for 70 yards and one score. Ezekiel Escamilla also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.

St. Joseph's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for St. Joseph Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

St. Joseph has already played their next contest, a 38-0 victory against St. Anthony on the 30th. As for St. Joseph Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 20-19 loss against San Antonio Christian on the 31st.
