Volleyball Recap: Pacific Ridge Firebirds vs. Carlsbad Lancers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Fe Christian, Pacific Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Carlsbad Lancers 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Firebirds as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Pacific Ridge got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 26-24, 18-25, 15-11.

Simone Hobbs paced Pacific Ridge's offense, picking up 25 kills. Hobbs got some help from Calista Lowery and her 39 assists. Shelby Ezell and Kayla Moul kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Carlsbad lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Pascal Dlugos, who had six digs and four aces. That's the most aces Dlugos has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Fitzpatrick, who had four digs and two aces.

Pacific Ridge's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-18. As for Carlsbad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-12.

Pacific Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Eastlake on the 1st. Carlsbad does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
