Volleyball Recap: GlenOak Golden Eagles vs. Austintown-Fitch Falcons
GlenOak unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Austintown-Fitch Falcons on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.
While GlenOak ultimately came up short, they really made Austintown-Fitch work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-19, 22-25, 25-10.
MyQuella Lipkins paced GlenOak's offense, picking up nine kills. Lipkins got some help from Rylie Calvert and her eight assists. Finally, Kaitlyn Wilson kept GlenOak's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
Elizabeth Sherwood was the offensive standout of the contest as she had ten digs.
Coincidentally, GlenOak and Austintown-Fitch will both be playing Hudson the next time they take the court. The Falcons will head out to face the Explorers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Golden Eagles will play them later in the day, at 8:30 p.m.
