Softball Recap: Childersburg's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After only two runs in their last contest, Childersburg made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fayetteville on Tuesday. The Tigers walked away with a 12-8 win over the Wolves. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Madison Brooks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taraji Jones, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Madisyn LaTaste was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Childersburg's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Fayetteville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Comer has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.86 runs per game on average), something Childersburg will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fayetteville, they will square off against Thorsby at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
