Softball Game Preview: Chesterton Trojans vs. Illiana Christian Vikings

The Chesterton Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Illiana Christian Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chesterton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Chesterton lost 14-4 to Mishawaka on Thursday.

Chesterton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydence Ford, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Ford has hit this season. Another was Payton Cherep, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Illiana Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Boone Grove on Thursday and fell 2-1. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Illiana Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-2. As for Chesterton, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Chesterton came up short against Illiana Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 11-8. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
