League recap: Rosales throws longest pass in league this season for Los Fresnos

Jonmichael Rosales and Brandon Colon provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Harlingen. The longest such play in 5A Region IV District 32 this season, the connection resulted in 79 yards.

Los Fresnos moved up to 457 from 505 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons were able to make the jump by beating the Cardinals 35-23.

Los Fresnos' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Rosales threw for 155 and three touchdowns and Akeem Simien had 119 yards receiving. On the ground William Cox chipped in 174 yards. Jaime Mata helped Los Fresnos' passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.

Clint Finley's team's Rosales and Mata have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Rosales has thrown for 1176 yards this season, while Mata has 26 catches for 423 yards. Jaedon Taylor from Harlingen South leads the league in rushing with 692 yards.

A big matchup in 5A Region IV District 32 this week will be when Veterans Memorial takes on Lopez. The Chargers are currently in first, while the Lobos are in fifth.

The Falcons extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Harlingen, 35-23. The win marks fifth in a row for the Los Fresnos.
