Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Hancock Royals vs. Union County Patriots

The Eastern Hancock Royals will take on the Union County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern Hancock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for Eastern Hancock against Blue River Valley as the team secured a 59-20 victory. The Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 24 points or more this season.

Eastern Hancock found their leader in sophomore McKenzie Koch, who went 13 for 24 on her way to 31 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. The contest was Koch's 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sotelo, who posted eight points and five steals.

Eastern Hancock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Union County came up short against Franklin County two weeks ago and fell 52-41.

Union County's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Eastern Hancock, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.

Everything came up roses for Eastern Hancock against Union County when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-31 victory. In that match, Eastern Hancock amassed a halftime lead of 35-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
