Meanwhile, Truckee entered their tilt with Elko on Monday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wolverines have posted against the Indians since November 9, 2019.
Truckee not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Elko between 15 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-17.
Truckee's win bumped their record up to 24-6. As for Fernley, their victory bumped their record up to 24-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Fernley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Truckee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fernley came out on top in a nail-biter against Truckee in their previous meeting back in August, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vaqueros since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
