Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

If Centennial was riding high fresh off their 11-5 takedown of Columbia Central last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Centennial fell just short of the Franklin Admirals by a score of 6-4 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Admirals: they've now lost three in a row.

Austin Yates was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Eli Wells was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Luke Dennis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Franklin, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
