Basketball Recap: Gordon-Rushville Has No Trouble Against Ainsworth

Gordon-Rushville barely beat Ainsworth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 55-35 margin over the Bulldogs on Saturday. The Mustangs pushed the score to 47-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Daniel Martins was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double with 26 points and 16 rebounds. What's more, he racked up seven steals, the most he's had since back in January. Braylon Holston was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 13 points along with five boards and four steals.

Despite the loss, Ainsworth still got an impressive performance from Chris Fernandez, who posted 13 points.

The victory got Gordon-Rushville back to even at 1-1. As for Ainsworth, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Gordon-Rushville will venture away from home to face off against Crawford on Tuesday. As for Ainsworth, they will welcome West Holt on Thursday.
