Basketball Game Preview: Foundation Academy Lions vs. Trinity Prep Saints

Having just played yesterday, the Foundation Academy Lions will get right back to it and host the Trinity Prep Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Foundation Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Foundation Academy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Forest Lake Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Foundation Academy blew Forest Lake Academy out of the water with a 67-27 final score. Given the Lions 's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Panthers are ranked 577th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alex Nichols and Josh Mercado were among the main playmakers for Foundation Academy as the former dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 boards, and ten assists and the latter went 8 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five steals. Mercado is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Waldon, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Trinity Prep ended up a good deal behind Titusville on Wednesday and lost 59-40. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Foundation Academy pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Trinity Prep, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
