Baseball Recap: Loyola Academy Comes Up Short

Loyola Academy extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-15 in the process. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brother Rice Crusaders. If the Ramblers were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Brother Rice, the victory was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

For Brother Rice's part, Tadgh Callaghan looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Callaghan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Conner Stack, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Nohava, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

While Loyola Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
