Basketball Game Preview: Quantico Warriors vs. Wakefield Country Day Owls

The Quantico Warriors will square off against the Wakefield Country Day Owls at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quantico is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Quantico is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Randolph-Macon Academy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Quantico had to suffer through a 71-16 loss at the hands of Randolph-Macon Academy. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakefield Country Day). They strolled past Front Royal HomeSchool with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 66-47.

Quantico better focus on containing Alfredo Martinez and Jacob Didomenico as the pair were huge in Wakefield Country Day's win. Martinez dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds, while Didomenico went 8 of 18 en route to 22 points and three steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least a third of Wakefield Country Day's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Jordan, who posted five points along with six boards and three steals.

Wakefield Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Quantico, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Quantico came up short against Wakefield Country Day in their previous meeting last Friday, falling 62-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Now that Quantico knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
