Basketball Game Preview: Stanhope Elmore Mustangs vs. Elmore County Panthers + Official Tickets

The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Elmore County Panthers at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stanhope Elmore has six straight victories, Elmore County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Stanhope Elmore didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 52-28 margin over Tallassee on Thursday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Stanhope Elmore's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Heaven Bailey, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. Bailey's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teonna Davis, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Elmore County lost 48-26 to Glenwood on Tuesday.

Elmore County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Stanhope Elmore, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Stanhope Elmore came out on top in a nail-biter against Elmore County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 51-48. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
