Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sabino). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Safford Bulldogs 100-68. The win was familiar territory for the Sabercats who have now won six contests in a row.
Sabino's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brendan Gargus, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 20 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Gargus a new career-high. Caden Watkins was another key player, going 8 for 14 en route to 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Sabino is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Safford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.
Sabino is taking a road trip to take on Catalina at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
