Basketball Recap: San Bernardino Drops Season-High Score on Glendale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Bernardino). They came out on top against the Glendale Nitros by a score of 85-76 on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Nitros are ranked 241st).

Several Nitros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joshua Ballard, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Ballard is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Manalo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards.

The win (which was San Bernardino's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Glendale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

San Bernardino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-55 loss against Hoover on the 30th. As for Glendale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-49 victory against Rowland on the 30th.
