Basketball Recap: Rocky Mount Prep Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Rocky Mount Prep can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against the KIPP P Pride by a score of 75-66. For the Jaguars, this counts as revenge for the 88-78 victory the Pride walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Rocky Mount Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylan Barfield, who posted 19 points. Rashyd Johnson was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Despite the loss, KIPP P still got an impressive performance from Tyrese Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Holmes is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Marquis Clements, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Rocky Mount Prep's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for KIPP P, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mount Prep will host Warren County at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. Rocky Mount Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67 points per game this season. As for KIPP P, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Weldon at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
