Softball Game Preview: Petersburg Buffaloes vs. Sudan Hornets

Petersburg hasn't had much luck against Sudan recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Petersburg Buffaloes will venture away from home to square off against the Sudan Hornets at 9:20 a.m.

Petersburg is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 15-5 to Abernathy.

KYNLEE OVALLE made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sudan). They were the clear victor by a 19-7 margin over Lockney on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Hornets have posted since April 19, 2024.

The victory got Sudan back to even at 5-5-1. As for Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Petersburg came up short against Sudan in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 10-6. Can Petersburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
