Volleyball Recap: Reagan Dearth and Sophia Moore Secure Win for Springboro

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakota East, Springboro was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Sycamore Aviators. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Aviators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

The victory didn't come easy: Sycamore scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19.

Springboro was led to victory by Sophia Moore and Reagan Dearth. Moore had 14 digs and three assists, while Dearth had nine digs and two aces. Those 14 digs gave Moore a new career-high.

Sycamore's loss came despite strong showings from Lainey Tilton and Caroline Shomo. Tilton had 18 digs and six aces, while Shomo had six digs, five kills, and two blocks. Shomo has been hot, having also posted 15 or more assists the last six times she's played.

Springboro's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sycamore, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Springboro will head out on the road to take on Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Sycamore, they have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Little Miami on the 23rd.
