Basketball Recap: Nate Honeycutt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Portland over Father Ryan

Portland entered their match against Father Ryan on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Portland Panthers lost to the Father Ryan Irish at home by a 56-39 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 67-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Portland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nate Honeycutt, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points. Evan Brown was another key player, putting up six points and six assists.

Portland now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Father Ryan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Portland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-62 defeat against Greenwood on the 27th. As for Father Ryan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-54 loss against Pope John Paul II on the 23rd.
