Volleyball Recap: Wheatmore Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Wheatmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Trinity Bulldogs, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Wheatmore was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Trinity's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.

Alexis Holifield paced Wheatmore's offense, picking up 12 kills. Holifield got some help from Lanie McMahan and her 17 assists. Madeline Mullinix controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Trinity's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avalynn Johnson, who had eight digs and two aces. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 42 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Bryn Holden, who had ten digs and three aces.

Wheatmore's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.
