Basketball Game Preview: High Point Central Bison vs. Grimsley Whirlies

The High Point Central Bison will take on the Grimsley Whirlies at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, High Point Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Northeast Guilford. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 58-51. The win almost wasn't to be: the Bison were down 31-17 in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Grimsley earned a 55-46 victory over College Prep & Leadership Academy on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Whirlies' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Royals are ranked 96th).

Grimsley's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for High Point Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

High Point Central took a serious blow against Grimsley in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, falling 75-24. Thankfully for High Point Central, Daniel Cooper (who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
