Baseball Game Preview: Camden County Vo-Tech Warriors vs. Oakcrest Falcons

The Camden County Vo-Tech Warriors will take on the Oakcrest Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oakcrest took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Camden County Vo-Tech, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, Camden County Vo-Tech got the win against King's Christian by a conclusive 13-7. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Johnnie Laurick made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Denzel Wiggins, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Falcone, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Camden County Vo-Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King's Christian only posted a batting average of .267.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Oakcrest was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Buena, falling 10-2.

Camden County Vo-Tech pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oakcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
