Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Classical Academy

Montgomery typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Classical Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Aztecs. The victory was familiar territory for the Caimans, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Layla McKee made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. McKee was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabel Johnson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Kaidance Katje was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in five consecutive games.

Classical Academy's record now sits at 7-10. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Classical Academy will challenge La Jolla Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Torreys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.4 runs per game on average), something the Caimans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Montgomery, they will take on Castle Park at 3:30 p.m. on the 29th.
