Football Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Faith Lutheran Crusaders

The Basic Wolves will face off against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Basic is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Foothill on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wolves were beaten by the Falcons 68-27. Wolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Falcons since Friday.

Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Crusaders took a blow against the Patriots, falling 42-10. The contest marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Even if they lost, Faith Lutheran's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Joel Sandoval, Cooper Offermann, and Connor Gries, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Liberty's side was Bennett Madden, who made 12 total tackles and snagged an interception.

Faith Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Basic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Basic and Faith Lutheran were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, but Basic came up empty-handed after a 24-23 loss. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
